Fun Facts
- Ixia was previously ruled by a King, who was overthrown by the military's Commander. It is now a military-run territory, with the Commander living in Military District 6(more commonly known as MD-6), and then with seven Generals ruling one District each, as well as serving him.
- The District a person lives in is distinguishable by the color on their otherwise black and/or white uniform. Their rank is made obvious by the design of the uniform. This will be delved into later on.
- Religion is not encouraged, and magicians are sentenced to death, as are persons who are born with a magical power. Most attempt escape to Sitia, where there is much more freedom.
- There are only two festivals each year in Ixia. The Ice festival is held by each town and city separately, and is mostly just a large get-together. It is during the cold season. The much more extravagant festival, the Fire festival, is during the hot season. The festival travels through the Districts, rather than multiple ones being held separately. It starts off in the colder Districts, as the hot season is much shorter, and the festival stays for a week in each place it stops.
- The Fire festival has many contests, including a baking contest, a dancing contest, a singing contest, horse racing and falconry. Spinning teams also compete, starting with sheering sheep, and making it into yarn before creating something from it.
- There are also various performances, such as fire dancers, as well as games.
- The northern Districts are home to a rare cat, the snow cat. There is no record of one ever being killed, instead, the Districts leave out food to appease them.
- Learning simply to learn new things is a suspicious act in Ixia.
- Soldiers, to cool down after practice, perform a series of Katas. A Kata is a fixed routine of defensive and offensive blocks and strikes, done solo without an opponent.
- Everyone is promoted based solely on intelligence and skill.
The Code of Behavior
- If one does not wear one's uniform, then they will be chained naked in the town square for two days.
- Projects of a small size only require the permission of the District's general, however, larger projects require a permit signed by the Commander.
- During peace, there will be no taking of another human life outside consequences for breaking the Code of Behavior. Should murder occur, the murderer will be sentence to execution by hanging. Self preservation and accidents are not excuses.
- The Commander must always have a food taster, who is trained in the art of tasting poisons in food and drink. If the food taster dies, then the next person to be executed must be offered the position in return for the chance to live.
- Each person will be assigned a job. Unless permission is given, they will not be able to change jobs.
- Traveling between Districts, even to visit another, requires appropriate papers, documentation and permissions.
